Asus Duel TD300 Transformer Book Review, Specs and Price
Asus Transformer Book Duet TD300 has not only come out with a unique design of their laptop tablet hybrid machine, with ability to switch between Microsoft Windows 8 and Google Android Operating Systems.
While Samsung Ativ Q Release Date is still away, the Asus Duet TD300 dual boot tablet with 13.3 inches display and Windows + Android dual OS, comes out as first of its kind device.
Asus Transformer Book Duet TD300 comes with the usual Transformer features with a detachable keyboard that can be locked into position or detached altogether in order to converting it from laptop into tablet.
With Asus dual boot transformer book, switching between operating systems is as easy as just tapping on an icon on at the touch screen.
At the CES 2014 show, the company also announced launch of the Trio Padfone in the US. This product is being launched by ASUS in association with AT&T. Padfone X is the name of the product to be launched and the device would be a hybrid of a tablet and a smartphone.
Asus Transformer Duet TD300 design and build might not be as elegant as a device with aluminum or magnesium finish. However, on software side its impressive with ability to switches between Android and Windows. There is also a dedicated physical button to immediately switch from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to Windows 8 and vice-versa.
As a laptop, with Windows 8 up and running, the device feels solid. The keyboard dock is finished well, comfortable to type on, and the trackpad smooth to the touch and responsive. The screen resolution comes in two options and you will want to opt for the 1920 x 1080 IPS panel as it looks sharp and has decent viewing angles. By comparison the non-IPS lower resolution panel is poor for the price, as the viewing angles are not good. It's HD all the way or no go, but the better panel will cost more.
Asus will produce the Duet in a wide range of spec options, and what ships to which countries will depend entirely on the demand from retailers. Intel Core i3-i7 processors are all on the list, as well as various storage options.
Standard Asus Transformer Duet TD300 Specs includes front-facing HD camera, 128GB of SSD storage, microSD card slot up to 64GB, 4GB DDR3L 1600MHz RAM and an Intel Core i7 fourth generation Haswell processor. The keyboard dock also brings its fair share to the party, housing a 1TB HDD, 1 x USB 3.0 and 1 x USB 2.0 ports, a LAN port, HDMI output.
