How to Close Apps on iOS7 for iPhone 4S/5S and iPad

Below is a simple, straight forward and brief tutorial on how do you close apps on iOS 7 especially for iPhone 4/4S/5 users. It was very simple to close Apps on iOS 6 but the process has been slightly changed on new iOS 7, which allows you to close down Apps in an even easier and faster way.

Closing Apps in iOS 6

Apple iOS users from the days of iOS 4 to the older iOS 6 version use to close apps by double clicking the Home button, holding down on the icons in the fast app switcher tray until they jiggled, and then tapped the cross icon (X) to shut down apps.

Apple iOS 7 has not any fast app switcher, but a card view, where holding down does not brings any jiggles and close button. So how do you kill apps in the new, carded iOS 7 apps view? Let find out.

How to close Apps on iOS7

To close an app, just simply press the Home button to get back to the home screen. If the app is in a folder, you’ll have to press the Home button twice in order to get back to the homescreen, since you have to travel back out through the folder before you can get to the home screen.
Pressing the Home button to exit out of an app does not completely close it out. The App still keeps running in the background and keeps using system resources. Here is the 2 step method to completely close down apps on new iOS 7:
  1. Double click Home button to launch the iOS 7 cards like multitasking apps tray interface.

  2. Each open app will show up with a preview card and the app’s icon below it.

  3. Horizontally scroll through the multitasking tray until you get to the app that requires to be closed.

  4. To close out of an app, touch and hold that app card and then swipe it up and away.

  5. You can touch and hold multiple apps cards to close multiple apps at once.

Force Close Apps on iOS 7

Apple iOS 7 apps are shut down once tossed off the screen. You can close multiple apps simultaneously, with maximum of three. But you still cannot close all apps at once. Killing apps on iOS 7 is same as it has always been:
  1. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the Slide to Power Off control appears.

  2. Hold down the Home button until the screen blanks and you're returned to the Home screen.

  3. I haven't needed to do that in years, so if you ever do, let me know if it works for you.
If you still got any trouble, below is the video to show you how to close Apps on iOS 7:

Closing down unnecessary apps on iOS 7 is good to keep device performing well. It not only frees up the multitasking tray from junk, but it also saves memory and processing power, ultimately saving your iPhone /iPad battery life.
