With BMW i3 and BMW i8, the German automobile manufacturer seem to consolidate its reputation as a motorist in the area of ​​electric propulsion. This strategy has taken shape with the birth of a new product badged 'i' and distinguished by their carbon fiber body. The first two models of this family are touring exhibitions last year.

The two models of new electric BMWi cars, should allow the company to break into the Electric Cars market. The group plans to market the BMW i3, its first production car to engine 100% power in 2013.

BMW i8 vehicles will have an aluminum frame and an interior plastic-reinforced fiber carbon (CFRP), ultra-light materials to offset the weight of batteries.

BMW i8 Price

BMWi8 will be produced at the BMW plant in Leipzig (east), where the group plans to invest about 400 million euros and create some 800 jobs by 2013.
BMW i8 sales price and the number of cars produced have not been officially provided yet. The German press, however had mentioned the figure of 30,000 units produced per year, far from mass production.

Talking about the price of new hybrid series, AFP automotive expert, Stefan Bratzel said that if BMWi series will be too expensive, it will never be a success. A production model of the BMW i8 price is expected to go on sale with a price ticket of $300,000 USD.

Scheduled for late 2013, i3, an electric city car will be the first vehicle of this new range, followed by BMW i8 Hybrid to be available in 2014.
