Nokia N9 MeeGo: Release Date, Specs, Price and Trailer

The Nokia N9 Meego smartphone is official announced by Nokia last week in Singapore. Given the fact that Windows Phone will be the key focus for internal Nokia development, the N9 will actually be the first and last MeeGo smartphone from Nokia.

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop is moving ahead with plans and is confident enough that Nokia N9 MeeGo will customer buy itself. However cellular market analysts doubt that customer would buy a smartphone built around a technology that the manufacturer has sidelined.

It seems pointless to launch a phone like the N9 on a platform that has been cut by management.

The MeeGo OS will continue to receive some funding from Nokia, but will not be part of the company's commercial strategy beyond the Nokia N9 MeeGo.

Loaded with the all new Meego OS, the user interface is really different than the one we see in Android, iOS, Windows or Symbian touch screen phones.

That's why, few experts on the other hand, are expecting a huge up wave in the market, for the Nokia, who is sinking in competition to Apple iPhone and Google Android, once the device is launched:

The N9 is powered by MeeGo OS v1.2 Harmattan and will be available with 16GB or 64GB memory.

Nokia N9 MeeGo Colors, Design, Display and Camera
Nokia N9 MeeGo got 3.9-inch WVGA AMOLED display with curved Gorilla glass. It features a uni-body design made from a polycarbonate material. Nokia N9 MeeGo is equipped with 8MP camera featuring Carl Zeiss optics wide-aperture f/2.2 lens for improved low light performance, auto-focus, touch to focus, Dual LED flash and it is capable of recording HD video in 720p. It will be available in Black, Cian and Magenta colors.

MeeGo is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 1GHz OMAP3630 Processor with an integrated PowerVR SGX530 GPU. It has 1GB of RAM, plus 16GB/64GB of External memory storage.

With 3.5mm Audio jack, the Nokia N9 MeeGo offers Dolby Headphone and Dolby Digital Plus support, which turns regular stereo audio into surround sound on any headphones.

There is a happy news for Angry bird fans, Nokia N9 is preloaded with Angry Birds Magic (NFC), Galaxy on Fire 2, Real Golf 2011 games and more can be downloaded.

The phone has an internet browser that uses Webkit2 multi-processing technology, and MeeGo's app switcher, called Open Applications, makes it easy to switch between browser-based and phone-based applications. Also, the N9 has no hardware shortcut buttons, so you basically make a simple swipe in any application in order to return to the home screen. This is a very different approach compared to Nokia's upcoming Windows Phones.

Nokia N9 MeeGo Release Date and Price

Set to be released in late 2011 around September-October, Nokia N9 MeeGo phone specs are no doubt pretty much impressive. But the new Nokia N9 MeeGo smartphone is expected to be bit expensive, priced at $600.
