Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is an upcoming eighth installment in the Call of Duty Series, one of the world's most popular first person shooter video games. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 kick started just two weeks after the release of previous game episode, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

There is a legal dispute going on between Activision and Infinity Ward, the publisher companies of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Sledgehammer Games will assist in the development of the singleplayer with an aim for "bug free" release, first outing in the Call of Duty franchise, which also sets a goal for Metacritic review scores above 95 percent. Raven Software is developing the multiplayer version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

The UK Official PlayStation Magazine has lent credence to speculation that Modern Warfare 3 will be a prequel starring fan favorite character Ghost Pilot. The Magazine informants strengthen a rumor which first reared its head online early in January 2011. On the Rumor Machine page in its latest issue (055), OPM points to "insider whispers" which suggest: "Infinity Ward's next Modern Warfare title will be a prequel, with Ghost in the lead role."

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will pick up where Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 left off, completely changing the way people perceive the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare shooter franchise.

There will reportedly be almost 20 Multiplayer Maps to go with it as well. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will include 15 Missions that battles across a dozen cities around the world including New York, Paris and London, Tehran, Mogadishu and Russia. There are seven "Mission" maps and five "Survival" maps listed.

The game will reportedly start us off in New York City as the Russians attempt to invade the United States, and eventually take us around the world through 15 missions as multiple characters until we get to the game’s climactic final mission in Dubai.

Player roles include a "Russian Federal Protective Services agent, SAS Operative, tank gunner, and AC-130 gunner" as well as some old friends from previous MW games and some new characters, notably Frost and Sandman. Gamers will be able to play characters on all sides of the conflict, and control multiple vehicles new and old, and tons of new weapons and hardware.

Multiplayer also makes a strong comeback in Modern Warfare 3, and even includes new game types and tons of new maps in addition to some of the older, more familiar multiplayer modes.

Electronic Theatre reported on Friday that "Modern Warfare 3" will cost £54.99 ($88.99), although that is significantly higher than the $60 release price for previous "Call of Duty" games. In any case, if past sales of the "Call of Duty" franchise are any indication, "Modern Warfare 3" is all but certain to shatter records. "Call of Duty: Black Ops," the last release in the series, broke records in November when it brought in $360 million the first 24 hours it was on sale.


Activision, has not officially unveiled any details about the game, though executives have said that a new Call of Duty game was coming this year. Kotaku information looks solid, and it is unlikely Activision will stay quiet for long with this much information out in the wild.

Last game episode Call of Duty: Black Ops, sold more than 7 million copies in the first 24 hours and $1 billion in first six weeks.
