Riphah International University's Professional Development Center (PDC) in collaboration wiith EC-Council, has successfully conducted a unique, first of its kind 5 days Training Course on ‘Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures’.

In an attempt to equip and prepare IT Industry Professionals to meet future Information Security challenges, this training course is a very welcoming addition to the row of other similar training programs, offered by the PDC like Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator (CHFI) and EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA), License Penetration Tester (LPT) certification programs.


Riphah International University, Islamabad is the first academic partner of EC-Council in Pakistan, an internationally renowned information security certification body. EC-Council offers trainings in over 60 countries and has trained over 80,000 professionals. Its certifications are recognized by US governmental agencies like National Security Agency (NSA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS). Under the partnership, RIU offers the complete range of EC-Council certifications.

This course was designed to train the IT security professionals to systematically perform vulnerability assessment of their systems and then take countermeasures to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability (CIA) of the valuable digital information assets. The participant of the course were introduced to a step-by-step process taken by the hackers, understanding the tools, techniques and the process they employ. The participants were trained to perform as Internal Security Auditor for their organization to develop effective security controls countermeasures.


The goal of a trained ethical hacker is to help an organization identify its security vulnerabilities, potential security threats and loopholes to plug them before an actual security breach or exploits take places by some malicious attacker. The training program was organized by the Professional Development Center (PDC) established by the Faculty of Computing. The center provides trainings and consultancy for the industry in the fields of Information Technology with a focus on Information Security. Dr. Saad Zafar, Dean, Faculty of Computing distributed the certificates to the successful candidates at the conclusion of the training program.

The training course was targeted for everyone who is responsible to ensure security of the computer network. So it is attended by various CIOs, CTOs, CISO Certified Professional, IT Auditors, IT Managers, Network Administrators, IT professionals & students studying or conducting research in the field of information security.
